Dear colleague,
We take great pleasure in inviting you to the XVIII Iberian International Business Conference (IIBC). The conference will take place October 6th-7th in Granada, Spain, and will be hosted by the University of Granada.
The conference aims to bring together Portuguese and Spanish scholars actively engaged in research on International Business. Participants are encouraged to present their research, exchange ideas, and expand their networks in a friendly and warm environment. This event provides a unique platform for researchers to discuss recent work in the interdisciplinary areas of International Management, International Entrepreneurship, International Marketing, International Trade Strategies, International Finance, and International Production and Operations. Conference Theme: Resilience and Sustainability of Iberian International Companies.
The European Commission has emphasized its commitment to incorporating sustainability into the strategic approaches of companies in all economic sectors through its communication “Next steps for a sustainable European future” (COM/2016/0739). The inclusion of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in EU policies and initiatives is crucial to achieving the 2030 Agenda, and the SDGs recognize the pivotal role businesses can and should play in solving sustainable development challenges. The European Commission, in conjunction with international organizations like the United Nations, highlights the important role multinationals play in collaborating with governments and NGOs on sustainability issues.
Incorporating sustainability into companies’ strategies contributes to their resilience by allowing them to identify and seize long-term opportunities and mitigate threats. Organizational resilience is the ability of organizations to anticipate, avoid, and adapt to environmental changes. To promote the alignment of companies’ strategies with sustainable approaches and EU priorities, it is crucial to investigate sustainable approaches, their implications for companies, especially in terms of improving their resilience, and the extent to which they contribute to achieving the SDGs.
While the theme of the conference encourages work focused on resilience and sustainability, manuscripts on traditional aspects of International Business (IB) are also welcome, as well as research focused on geographical locations other than Iberia.
We look forward to your participation.
